The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) is responsible for campus-wide institutional research activities and initiatives, including the organization, collection and analysis of campus data in response to requests from internal and external organizations.

  • Total education population in Fall 2016 is 3,387, including Student Enrollment of 3,387; Medical, Dental and Pharmacy Residents/Fellows of 1,551; and Postdoctoral Scientists of 1,056.
  • We had 936 new students in the fall 2016 entering class, including 65% female, 56% California residents, 27% first generation college graduates, and 50% who were the first generation to graduate school.  Those born outside the US accounted for 11% of the new members of our community, and they came from 37 different countries.
  • In fiscal year 2016, 992 degrees were awarded, including 455 Professional Doctorate degrees, 123 PhDs, 361 Master's degrees, and 53 post-graduate certificates.
  • In fiscal year 2014, UCSF's total research and development expenditure in life sciences research was $1,052,759 million.
