Office of Institutional Research

The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) is responsible for campus-wide institutional research activities and initiatives, including the organization, collection and analysis of campus data in response to requests from internal and external organizations.

UCSF Learner Facts

The total learner population in fall 2022 is 5,908:

  • Enrolled Students: 3,154 (excluding13 on filing fee status and 204 off-campus in joint programs)
  • Medical, Dental and Pharmacy Residents and Fellows: 1,688
  • Postdoctoral Scholars: 1,066

Of the 993 new students in the fall 2022 entering class:

  • 68% were women
  • 61% were California residents
  • 30% were first generation in their family to have attended college
  • 48% were first generation in their family to attend graduate school
  • 15% were born outside the U.S. They came from 39 different countries.

In the 2011-2022 academic year, UCSF awarded a total of 1030 degrees, including 107 certificates, 308 master's, 167 PhDs, and 448 professional degrees.
